Glin Court development comprises the demolition of two existing flat blocks, and their replacement with 32 older persons’ apartments in a three-storey L-shaped block.

Following the layout of Glin Court, the development substitutes a length of the 5.5 metre roadway with a traffic-calmed carriageway and public realm improvements – to create a new sense of place in this 1960’s cul-de-sac enclave.
Meeting in the community room the tour will begin with a summary of the context and design considerations of the building. Glin Court is a purpose-built development for older persons and integrated Age Friendly principles into it’s design philosophy from inception through to handover.

The tour will move from the community room outside to the elevation along Glin Grove where the public facing elevation, construction methodology, access strategy and own door access can be explained. From there the tour will move up through the circulation core where site positioning, aspect and other design considerations can be explored.

The tour may include access to one of the apartments, subject to conditions on the day and will conclude in the rear landscaped communal courtyards which have been designed to support residents with features such as raised planter-beds, curated planting and furniture.
