Tour Information +
The tour begins in the Foyer, with discussion of the history of the building as a Quaker Meeting House and it’s 1992 renovation by architects O’Donnell and Tuomey. This is followed by Cinema 1, the former Men’s Meeting Room, to discuss some of the remaining features from its Quaker history and its current usage. In Cinema 2, we will discuss the Women’s Meeting Room, and the features which make it ideal for a Cinema space.
The tour will go up to our Projection booth (which is only very rarely open to the public), which houses the only operational 70mm projector in the country where we discuss the history of film exhibition in Dublin and both modern and traditional forms of projection.
The tour concludes in our Archive Library where we would display items from the Irish Film Archive and the nature of film preservation in Ireland today.
Meeting point: Foyer
