This walking tour will explore public housing and regeneration projects in the north-west inner city including schemes that are proposed, under-construction, recently completed and historical.
The Tour will begin outside the Dominick Hall Community Space on Dominick Street. The tour will then proceed to take in housing schemes at Wolfe Tone Court, Dominick Hall, Dorset Street, Constitution Hill and Henrietta House.
Two of the schemes are currently under construction. Constitution Hill flats are being redeveloped in a way that demonstrates how Dublin’s existing housing stock can be transformed and expanded, integrating well in this prominent site. 124 homes are being delivered here with garden and play spaces for residents in a way that improves its urban design relationship with Constitution Hill and Broadstone Plaza.
The redevelopment of Dorset Street flats will provide 163 homes including 50 additional homes, along with new spaces for community built in three urban blocks with new public streets. The historic Dorset Street Fire Station building is integrated in the new development and celebrated as a focal point.
