Designed by O’Callaghan & Webb and opened in 1912, the former Carnegie Library is a protected structure and a distinctive detached, single-storey, L-shaped building. Carefully restored by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, it is now home to the Carnegie Hub @ IADT, a dynamic centre for learning, creativity and collaboration.

The Hub supports major initiatives including the European University for Film & Screen Media and the Creative Futures Academy, serving as a vibrant base for knowledge sharing, innovation and creative practice.

This talk will explore the restoration of the historic library, highlighting the transformed interior and revealing original architectural features that were uncovered during the 2020 conservation works. Visitors will gain an insight into how this significant heritage building has been sensitively adapted for contemporary use while preserving its unique character and history.
