Montpelier is an ambitious high density, mixed tenure development providing Starter Homes, Social Homes and Cost Rental Apartments, along with critical community services and public open spaces.

Set on the former O’ Devany Gardens site, Montpelier is a contemporary housing development shaped by landscape, connectivity and thoughtful design. This guided walk will explore how new homes can integrate with existing neighbourhoods, highlighting public spaces, pedestrian routes and the site’s relationship to its surroundings. Participants will gain insight into the evolution of the scheme, planning approach, architectural character and delivery of much-needed housing.

The tour will begin at the community space of Ashford House with a brief overview of the area’s past and the evolution into a new residential community. The tour will then move through the development’s communal areas, passing a number of interface areas where the development connects with adjacent established neighbourhoods. The tour will consider how developments like Montpelier are contributing to a more sustainable and liveable city.
