The tour begins on the street, where you’ll see how Martin’s Terrace responds to its corner site with a distinctive curved facade. This geometric form addresses the public realm and anchors this rapidly regenerating part of the Docklands.

We’ll move into the ground floor bar-café, a publicly accessible space that acts as a threshold between the street and the building. This is where the hostel engages directly with the neighbourhood and activates the street-level public space.

Next, we’ll explore the hostel’s interior layout and visit a sample room, seeing how the design accommodates different guest types through varied room configurations and shared common areas. You’ll see how the building’s form influences the interior spatial planning.

We’ll then move through the building to experience the courtyard, showing how the design creates community space within the site.

Throughout, we’ll discuss how Martin’s Terrace sits within Dublin’s dockland context. Located close to An Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and Grand Canal Square, it’s positioned just outside the major corporate development zone, serving both tourists and the local regenerating neighbourhood.

The tour begins at street level. As this is a live construction site, the street approach and surrounding areas may have uneven surfaces and debris.

Visitors will need to wear hard hats throughout the tour. Please note that hard hats must fit securely.

The tour will access interior spaces via stairs with handrails. This may be difficult for people with movement impairments or those using mobility aids.

As a live site, visitors should expect dust and loud or unexpected construction noise during the tour.

There are no accessible toilets available on site. The group will move together throughout the tour, and there will be limited or no space to sit down, as the building is not yet fitted out with furniture.
