Located at the heart of Dublin Port, the former Odlum’s Mill and Silo buildings are one of Dublin’s most significant surviving industrial heritage complexes. Dublin Port Company has developed a vision, using culture as a key catalyst, for the adaptive reuse of these buildings, and in 2019 commissioned Grafton Architects to develop The Flour Mill Masterplan to create a new cultural destination within Dublin Port. In 2022, Dublin Port Company and the Arts Council embarked on a partnership to transform part of the site into dedicated artists’ studios and creative spaces, addressing the urgent need for secure, long-term workspaces for artists in Dublin.

This tour will offer insights into the industrial heritage of the site and its future re-use. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from artist Barbara Knežević who will give her insights into the project and the critical need for workspaces for artists in the city.

Finally, the tour will connect with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios exhibition Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home. Consisting of two solo exhibitions by artist’s Yuri Pattison and Liliane Puthod located at the Pumphouse, Alexander road. This site is the former graving docks area now repurposed as a vibrant space for the arts.

Meeting Point: Attendees of the tour should meet at the allotted time inside the entrance to the former Flour Mills site which is located on Alexandra Road, Dublin Port, Dublin 1 (Google Map).

It is approximately 10 minute’ walk from the Point Stop on the Red Luas line. As this is a site visit it is advised that attendees wear sturdy shoes/boots for the tour.
