Tour Information +
In 2026 RTÉ is marking its first century on air as 2RN, the precursor of RTÉ Radio and later RTÉ television that opened on 31 December 1916. It looks forward to welcoming the public to come on a walking tour of parts of our Scott Tallon Walker designed campus that houses several significant buildings of your public service media. We will highlight significant architectural, structural, and technological details of these buildings as they relate to Irish broadcasting and to contemporary architecture. As well as about programmes made in them.
Your tour, led by a member of staff, begins at the campus restaurant from where we will walk over to the landmark Radio Centre building, enter the main entrance reception and go to the lower floor that houses the studios and do a circular walk of the building. This section of the walk includes a studio visit. We will exit the Radio Centre by the building’s long low ramp whose main use is the moving in and out of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra’s musical instruments as well as those of the many visiting musical artists who broadcast on RTÉ radio. Next stop is a walk through the set of the streets of RTÉ’s television drama Fair City, and on to the television building. We will enter this other landmark broadcasting building at one end of the scene dock This is a long wide walkway that stretches the length of the row of television studios. This section of the walk also includes a visit to a television studio. We will visit the television building reception to see the iconic stairway of this landmark building. The tour will end under the exterior pillared covered area that extends the length of the outside of the television building, opposite the iconic RTÉ mast.
Meeting Point: The entrance to RTÉ Campus is on the Stillorgan Road, Dublin 4. The starting point is directly beyond the entrance at the large RTÉ sign in front of the campus restaurant at the rear of the square.
