Tour Information +
The tour will be led by the head craft gardener at Newbridge House & Farm.
The tour will begin at the main farm Courtyard moving into the walled garden to see the various restoration works which are focused in the western corner of the garden. Fingal County Council owns the heritage property and funded the recently completed conservation works. The glasshouses are planted for all to enjoy as part of the Newbridge Farm tour.
The tour will focus on the restoration of historic glasshouses and Sun House at Newbridge House, home of the Cobbe family from the mid-1700s . Five historical structures were restored during the project spanning 2024/26. Two glasshouses, the Peach House Vinery and the Propagation & Pot Plant Hot House, originally constructed between 1892 and the early 1900s were reconstructed to Messenger & Co. designs. The Cucumber & Tomato Lean-to, in the Aviary yard adjacent to the walled garden, was restored as built originally, and the Melon House was reconstructed on the original footprint to designs developed by the design team led by Bluett & O’Donoghue Architects. A fifth structure, the Sun House, located to the east of Newbridge House in the woodland, was restored to the design team’s specifications.
Meeting Point: Reception at Newbridge House & Farm (adjacent café), Newbridge Demesne, Donabate, Dublin, K36 VR90.
