An exploration of the development of Dublin’s Northside and how the changing nature of our nation’s politics, societal views, and social reform have impacted both the past and inform the present in the decision-making process of urbanisation and redevelopment. The tour begins at the Four Courts, Inns Quay, Dublin 7, and includes highlights such as the location of an excavated Viking house, the remains of St Mary’s Abbey, the Fruit & Veg Market District, Green Street Courthouse, the Old Debtors’ Prison, and an old hospital complex, before ending at Smithfield Market, Dublin 7.
Meeting point: at the front of the old pillared entrance to Four Courts (facing the Liffey), on Inns Quay.
