Tour Information +
Join architect Cormac Murray and members of the Met Éireann team for a guided tour of the organisation’s distinctive headquarters on St. David’s Terrace. Over the course of approximately 35 minutes, visitors will trace the story of the building’s design, its evolution over time, and its continuing role as home to Ireland’s national meteorological service.
The tour begins with an introduction to the building’s conception and Met Éireann’s history, before moving around the exterior to examine the architectural details of the façades, including their Swiss influences and the story behind the original cladding and later re-cladding. Visitors will then step inside to the main lobby to view Ruth Brandt’s sculptural wall and hear from a meteorologist about the practice of weather forecasting.
The tour continues via the staircases, exploring both their design and spatial qualities, before concluding in the canteen area, where the striking windows provide the backdrop for a final discussion and audience Q&A.
Meeting point: Outside the main entrance on St. David’s Terrace
