Join us for a guided tour of the newly opened Ballyogan Library, a vibrant public space designed by dlr Architects with the local community in mind. Once a gymnasium, the building has been transformed into a colourful, inclusive library that supports learning, creativity, and connection.

The tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the architectural team reimagined the space while preserving key features like the timber-clad atrium. You’ll see how playful interiors, flexible layouts, and clever design choices bring warmth and character to the building, all while offering stunning views of the nearby mountains and playing pitches.

Accessibility and inclusivity were central to the design. From open-plan circulation and age-friendly seating to sensory pods and a Changing Places facility, every area was created to welcome users of all ages and abilities. Highlights include the children’s lit tree and reading cubbies, a teen zone with gaming PCs, and cozy nooks for book clubs.

Sustainability is woven throughout the project. Natural ventilation, daylight optimisation, and energy-efficient systems enhance comfort and wellbeing, while reused materials and circular design principles help reduce environmental impact.
Whether you’re passionate about architecture, work in design, or simply curious to see how an existing building was given new life, this tour is a chance to explore a space that now brings people together and strengthens community ties.
