Tour Information +
How can we create cities and public spaces that work better for children, families and communities — and give children a meaningful voice in shaping them?
Join us for a conversation exploring how urban design, community engagement and children’s participation can contribute to more child-friendly cities and better environments for everyone.
The event brings together practitioners, academics, students and members of the public to explore how we can make our cities and public spaces more child friendly, with a particular focus on children’s participation in decision-making.
Thamiris Gaberz, an urban planner specialising in child-friendly cities, will share her experience of working across urban mobility, placemaking and urban design, and her work supporting safer, healthier and more inclusive environments for children and communities.
Muhammad Achour, architect, educator and community engagement facilitator, will share his practice through Places of ARcture, exploring how children and young people can be engaged in imagining and shaping the places where they live, learn and play through creative workshops and programmes that bring together art, architecture and participation.
The session will create a space for discussion around practice, design and participation, exploring the challenges and opportunities of putting child-friendly approaches into action and moving towards cities shaped with children, not simply for them.
Meeting Point: Reception, TU Dublin, D07 XFF2.
