Reimagining George’s Place and Wash House is a THRIVE-funded project to reuse No. 9 George’s Place and the adjacent Wash House as a new Centre for Creative Lifelong Learning. These vacant protected structures will be transformed into vibrant educational and creative spaces, giving them a sustainable future use while preserving their architectural heritage.

This tour of the Wash House and exhibition will explain the development of the project from the Integrated Urban Strategy through to the detailed design. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Wash House, learn about its history and see the plans for its transformation before construction begins. Please note No. 9 George’s Place is inaccessible.

The use as a Centre for Creative Lifelong Learning emerged from the Integrated Urban Strategy with the design developed to Part 8 planning stage by dlr Architects Department. OC+C Architects are now progressing the detailed design, with construction works scheduled to commence in early 2027.
This THRIVE – Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-2027.
