Tour Information +
Join architect Cormac Murray on a tour of the Phibsboro Centre.
Few buildings in Dublin invoke as strong a reaction as the 1969 concrete tower and shopping mall, a complex which has become synonymous with the suburb of Dublin it dominates. Oft-cited as a contender for the ugliest building in Dublin, some argue the building has a certain presence and deserves a closer look. Plans to redevelop the building and convert it to a hotel were recently granted. Could the building be approaching a new era?
This guided tour will tell the story of the Canadian millionaire who funded the Phibsboro Centre, the design influences behind it, its concrete construction, and more.
Cormac Murray has published a number of articles on the Phibsboro Centre, including ‘The Forgotten Frontier’ a zine by the Phibsboro Press in 2017.
Meeting Point: Beside ATM outside the Phibsboro Shopping Centre, 154 Phibsborough Road, Dublin 7, D07 NH51
