Starting in the renovated flour mill in Bolands Mills, we will explore the historic Grand Canal Dock area through images, sounds and words. Guided by the workshop facilitators, participants will note their response to buildings, the spaces in between and what lies beneath and beyond, using field work techniques such as on-the-spot sketching, audio recording, note-taking and site-writing.
The workshop will finish back in Daphni, the Flour Mills, where there will be time for discussion and reflection on the material gathered we have gathered.

The focus of the workshop is on processes of exploration and documentation, rather than on specific outcomes.
No special skills are required to participate in this workshop – just bring a notebook and pencil or pen please. Also, as we will be outdoors much of the time, be sure to dress for the weather!

Our walking tour will include busy streets and quaysides. Road and path surfaces may be uneven and, while we will endeavour to stay together, we will be rambling and stopping in public areas over which we have no control. Therefore, it is essential that every person takes responsibility for themselves.
