Tour Information +
Dublin in Relief is an interactive workshop and guided tactile tour.
During the event, visitors will be invited to touch and explore a collection of relief models showing important buildings, façades and architectural details from across Dublin. These models will help participants examine shapes, surfaces and design features that may be difficult to understand through images or written descriptions alone.
A tour guide will provide a short and accessible introduction to each building, including its design, story and importance within Dublin’s architectural heritage. The focus will not be on giving a detailed historical lecture. Instead, the event will create an informal and welcoming space for shared exploration, conversation and learning through touch.
The researcher and model maker will also briefly explain how tactile models can be used in museums, galleries and heritage settings. Participants will be encouraged to discuss whether touch can offer new and more inclusive ways of representing architecture and the built environment.
The event has been developed primarily with non-sighted and partially sighted participants in mind, but it is open to anyone interested in architecture, heritage, accessibility or tactile experience. Guidance and assistance will be available throughout.
By placing touch at the centre of the experience, Dublin in Relief will explore how tactile engagement can support richer conversations, broaden access and allow more people to connect with Dublin’s buildings and architectural heritage.
Meeting Point: IAF House, 114-116 Capel St, North City, Dublin 1, D01 Y2X2
