The building was for many centuries the palace of the archbishops of Dublin. Known during that time as the Palace of St Sepulchre, in the early nineteenth century is became a barracks for the mounted police and, later, a Garda Station. This tour will look at what survives from its various occupations, and discuss its fascinating history.
The tour will assemble on St Patrick’s close, at the junction with Kevin Street Upper (just down from the main entrance to the Palace, which is on a narrow footpath), before touring the exterior of the site and then looking at some of the surviving interior features.
This building is owned by the State through the Office of Public Works (OPW).
