La Catedral Studios was established in 2005 by Sardinian co-founders Antonella Scanu & Costantino Idini who had been previously providing artist spaces in Dublin since 1997 in DIY converted unconventional buildings such as military barracks, mills and soap factories. In keeping with the architectural character of the previous studios, LCS building was a former clothing factory for the Saint Bernard/Dunnes stores brand. LCS is a quirky creative sociable hub of Dublin based artists, hosting a plethora of mixed-media artists including painters, poets, writers, composers, thinkers and creators. LCS is based on the top floor of a charming red-brick Victorian warehouse in the heart of the Liberties, conveniently located round the corner from NCAD and many more artistic amenities. The refurbishment/conservation approach of our space highlights the architectural character of the building and pays tribute to the original heritage features, resulting in a bright, inspiring and vibrant workspace, ideal for nurturing and fostering an artistic community. This is a rare opportunity to meet the artists, explore the labyrinth of individual workspaces within and perhaps catch a glimpse of Ophelia, the art studio cat.

Meeting point: Outside the front door (main entrance)

Pre-Book Only

Accessibility Information
The tour starts at the top of 36 steps and has two indoor staircases on either end of the main studios; therefore, it may be difficult for people with movement impairments. The event will lead from the main studios to the Back Loft Studios and through the Jungle Studios on the top floor. The rooms will be lit through natural lighting and comfy chairs will be scattered throughout. Bathrooms will be available; however, they are not wheelchair accessible. Given that the building is from the Victorian Era, the floors throughout the studios are uneven.
