Tour Information +
Join architect Cormac Murray on a tour of the Phibsboro Centre and a visit to Richmond Road studios, on the building’s fourth floor.
Few buildings in Dublin invoke as strong a reaction as the 1969 concrete tower and shopping mall, a complex which has become synonymous with the suburb of Dublin it dominates. Often-cited as a contender for the ugliest building in Dublin, some argue the building has a certain presence and deserves a closer look. In its current undeveloped condition it has become a hub for creative industries and local community organisations. Perhaps this resilient building is having a renaissance in the post-recessionary, climate-conscious context of today?
This guided tour will tell the story of the Canadian millionaire who funded the Phibsboro Centre, the design influences behind it, its concrete construction, and more.
Cormac Murray has published a number of articles on the Phibsboro Centre, including ‘The Forgotten Frontier’ a zine by the Phibsboro Press in 2017.
The tour will end with a visit to Richmond Road studios, where Svenja Michelle Behle will be exhibiting her exciting solo show, The Lingering Glow of Folding Fans.
Limited availability, pre-booking required.
