Originally a brick lodge built for Park Ranger Nathaniel Clements between 1752 and 1757, the house was acquired as an ‘occasional residence’ for the Lord Lieutenant, and has been the official residence of the Irish president since 1938. The additional wings, porticos, and extensions during the Viceregal period expanded the original lodge into a sizeable mansion, with a rendered exterior unifying the new and old. The building’s plan is interesting and practical, and the restored interiors include several magnificent ornamented ceilings.

Wheelchair Access.
