OHD Sunday Route Plan: D1 + D7
OHD route plans are suggested routes for you to take on Open House weekend to experience the city’s architecture. Although most events on these routes are drop-in and do not require booking we advise you to arrive early and to please be aware that some tours may fill up quickly.
Start your Open House Sunday with a walking and singing tour with An Góilín traditional singers. This year’s journey will take us to the North Inner City area of Wolfe Tone Square, Parnell Square, Dominick St. and Henrietta St including the premises of Club Na Múinteoirí in Parnell Square, Na Píobairí Uilleann at No. 15 Henrietta St, and other historic buildings in the area.
Meeting Point: Wolfe Tone Square, Dublin 1
Date & Time: Sunday 16th at 11am
Visit no. 15 Henrietta Street, now the headquarters of Na Píobairí Uilleann, an international organisation involved in promoting the playing, the making, and the teaching of the Irish uilleann pipes. It is located on a cul-de-sac containing the finest early Georgian houses in the city. The street is of unique European significance, being the single remaining intact example of an early-18th century street of houses, which was at the forefront of what was to become the Georgian style.
Location: 15 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1
Date & Time: Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th, drop in tours between 11am & 4.45pm
Ready for another exploration? Join one of our favourite Open House participants, Cíarán Cuffe, architect and MEP on a Stoneybatter Walk: past fragments, future promise. This is a walking tour of the north-west inner city starting from Smithfield, heading through the streets of Stoneybatter, and finishing in the new TU Dublin Grangegorman campus. A focus will be placed on the potential future uses for empty and vacant lands within the area.
Meeting point: Smithfield Luas stop, Dublin 7
Date & Time: Sunday 16th at 2pm
