Tour Information +
No. 36 Fenian Street is a four storey over basement terraced Georgian building and protected structure and was built in c.1790. It has been the home of the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation since 2016 and provides a showcase for the work carried out by the Centre to the wider community. In 2015 Trinity College completed a project which undertook to conserve and extensively refurbish the building.
A unique architectural feature of the building is the unusual Georgian curved geometric staircase. The completed works to the building is one that respects the original domestic character of the Georgian residence and provides bespoke research, study and office spaces with state of the art IT and building services.
The refurbishment ensured that the original domestic character and appearance of the building was enhanced and brought back to life. Since the project has been completed it has been the finalist of a number of architectural conservation awards.
The Centre is now a beacon for translation scholars and practitioners from around the world, as well as being an important cultural outreach centre for Trinity College and its School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies.
The tour will take place on the ground and first floors of the building only.
The meeting point for the tours is outside No. 36 Fenian Street, Dublin 2. Look out for Open House Dublin volunteers.
Pre-Book Only
Accessibility Information
Due to the small size of the building, there is no lift so the building is not wheelchair accessible at this time.
