Within the walls of Iveagh House, the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Affairs, you encounter not just a building of architectural splendour but also a location of many stories and some very significant history. Explore the nooks and crannies of its beautiful architecture and artwork on this guided tour. Walk in the footsteps of Presidents, Prime Ministers, Monarchs and Bishops..
Iveagh House has served as a residence and a townhouse for its owners prior to being handed over to the Irish State by the then owners the Guinness family to be used as the then Department of External Affairs in 1939.
You will be welcomed in to the Entrance Hall and continue onwards to the The Secretary General’s Ante Room. The tour will also include the Ministers Ante Room, the Ministers Dining Room and the old Library. Vista’s to be encountered include the double Staircase and the spectacular Ballroom. But these are just a few of the sights and stories to be enjoyed on the tour. A house of almost 300 years has many sights to unveil and many stories to tell. Iveagh House remains today one of the most impressive buildings in Dublin so come along and enjoy a fascinating tour.
