Dublin City Council recently completed 71 new homes and a Scout/Community Hall at Springvale Grove in Chapelizod, Dublin 20.

Set amongst landscaped grounds, Springvale Grove Housing, consisting of 71 dwellings and a Community Hall, has the benefit of a wonderful location bordered by the Phoenix Park to the north, Chapelizod village to the west and the river Liffey to the south.

Chapelizod has its own particular character and in designing Springvale Grove, Levitt Bernstein Architects referenced the variety of colour, material and roof forms of the village’s architecture so the new buildings appear as an extension of the existing place. Carefully positioned gaps between the buildings maintain views from Chapelizod Road, through the development, to the greenery of Phoenix Park.

The tour will include a guided walk among the apartment blocks, viewing the various different typologies from the outside and the landscaped spaces between. It will describe the design and construction of the homes, which are some of the most recent additions to DCC’s social housing stock.
Springvale Grove is one of DCC’s first multi-storey MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) projects, making use of off-site manufacturing, and achieved Home Performance Index (HPI) certification, demonstrating the sustainability of these new homes.

Springvale is a short walk from Chapelizod village and the Chapelizod Gate entrance to the Phoenix Park.
