Tour Information +
Join us for a fun and interactive art / architecture workshop to participate in the design of a Centre for Creative Lifelong Learning at the former Wash House, Kelly’s Avenue and No. 9 George’s Place, Dún Laoghaire.
– In this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to:
Learn about the history of these two heritage buildings, the former Kelly’s Hotel built in 1830 and the Wash House built in 1915. You will hear about the plan to restore, reuse and extend these buildings to bring them back into use and to revitalise the streetscape around them and we will discuss your ideas and suggestions for the project.
– Explore ideas about the design for the reuse of these buildings as a Centre for Creative Lifelong Learning.
How would you like these buildings to look and feel and how would you like to use them in the future? How should the courtyard between the buildings be used? What would make the design of the building engaging for children?
– Participate in the design for the reuse of these buildings.
Using large scale plans for the proposed reuse of the buildings, you can sketch and draw your own designs and ideas for materials, colours and spaces. The result will be a collection of design ideas created by you and your fellow participants for the buildings and the courtyard in between them.
Age 8 and older – Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop
