Compact Interiors: Planning Space on Working Sailboats - Open House Dublin 2025

Compact Interiors: Planning Space on Working Sailboats

Dun Laoghaire Marina, Harbour Road, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin

Dates & Times

Saturday 18 October

Tours begin at 10:30AM, with last tour at 2:30PM - Tours every 30 minutes

This tour explores the specialist compact design skills required to prepare sailboats for extended passages at sea. Crews require rest areas, cooking facilities, sleeping areas, and shower/toilet facilities, all carefully designed into the smallest hull possible. The lighter the hull, the faster it will sail. The smaller the overall envelope, the easier it is to park, crew, manage, and afford. And so, a great deal of thought goes into designing boat interiors, and tailoring them for the needs of individual owners. We will be providing tours of four different sailboat interiors.

Meeting Point: Dun Laoghaire Marina. Harbour Road, Dun Laoghaire. A96D376.

Pre-Book Only

Accessibility Information
The four boats will be moored together in one location. The walkways leading down to them are broad and secure. We will have someone at hand to walk the visitors from the entrance gate down to the boats, and someone to walk them back out again after the tour. Unfortunately, it should be noted that access to the boats by wheelchair users is not really practicable.
