What makes a neighbourhood feel alive? The buildings, streets and spaces around us and the people who live, work, play, care and connect within them.

In this hands-on LEGO® workshop for families with children aged 7+, brick artist Jessica Farrell invites young builders to imagine Dublin as a living city. Working together through playful design challenges, you’ll explore what makes a neighbourhood work, what it needs to thrive, and how we can care for the places we share.

Using LEGO® bricks, you’ll build, experiment and reimagine the city from the perspective of the people who live in it. Think about the homes, streets, gathering places, green spaces and everyday services that help a neighbourhood flourish and the relationships, stories and acts of care that bring these places to life.

This is a chance to look at Dublin through fresh eyes, share ideas about the city you know, and imagine the neighbourhoods you’d like to see in the future.

Open House Junior offers a dynamic programme of architecture events, workshops and activities designed to engage young minds with Dublin and the built environment. Through making, playing and sharing ideas, young people can explore their own experiences of the city and develop a sense of connection, responsibility and care for the places and communities around them. Their perspectives, stories and imaginations are an important part of thinking about Dublin’s future.

• This is a family workshop suited to children aged 7+ and their parents/guardians. Strictly no children under 5 years old will be permitted in the venue for safety reasons.

• A minimum of one adult and one child must attend as a family group.

• Please book a place for every adult and child attending.

• Parents/guardians must remain with their child(ren) throughout the workshop.

• All LEGO® materials are provided.

• Strictly no children under 5 years of age may attend due to health and safety requirements.

The lego workshops will be at IAF House, 114-116 Capel Street Dublin 1. This is a temporary use space and does not have any direct access to toilet and washroom facilities inside the space. Participants and visitors have full use of toilets located close by.
