Join us for ‘Dream Plaza’ at IAF House, where young city-makers (ages 7-12) will envision the future of Portobello Square, a public space in Dublin 8. This hands-on workshop, designed to inspire creativity and civic engagement, will explore how cities are made and how children’s imaginations can help shape them. ‘Dream Plaza’ empowers children to be imaginative city-makers, giving them a voice in shaping their urban environment.

Part 1: Site Visit (Outdoors): We’ll begin with a short walk to Portobello Square, allowing children (with their parents/guardians) to experience the outdoor space firsthand.

Part 2: Creative Workshop (Indoors): Returning to IAF House, children will transform their observations into innovative designs. Using sketching, collage, and card, they’ll create and share their dreams for Dublin’s public realm.

Facilitator: Natalia Panis

Location: IAF House at Charlemont Square, Dublin

Note: Parents / guardians must attend with their child(ren). Please book a space for each person attending. All materials provided. This workshop involves a short walk and some time outdoors, before returning to the venue for the main workshop. Parents/guardians are asked to supervise their children at all times.

Open House Junior offers a dynamic programme of architecture events, workshops, and activities designed to engage young minds. These opportunities offer a space for young people to share their stories and connect with Dublin city, cultivating a sense of responsibility and care for the built environment. Children and young people’s lived experiences and insights are invaluable contributions to our evolving built heritage, reflecting the values and aspirations of future communities.
