Dublin Airport Old Central Terminal Building
DAA, Collinstown, Co. Dublin
Join DAA’s Graeme McQueen for a tour of the Old Central Terminal Building at Dublin Airport. Opened in 1940, the stunning building offers a unique insight into 80 years of aviation and stunning (unique) views of the airfield at the airport.
The architect of the old terminal building was Desmond FitzGerald, an elder brother of the former Taoiseach, Dr. Garret FitzGerald. The curved building with its tiered floors was designed to echo the lines of a great ocean liner and won many architectural awards for its design. This original terminal building was designed to cater for just 100,000 passengers a year – a number that the airport now typically caters for each day.
The tour will include a short presentation on the history of the OCTB and of Dublin Airport, followed by a tour of the building itself.
Meeting point: Beside the Terminal 1, Dublin Express bus stand, Terminal 1, Swords, Dublin
Pre-Book Only
Accessibility Information
This is an old building. There are no lifts between floors and the building is not wheelchair accessible beyond the ground floor. The tour will mainly be indoors – with any access to the exterior of the building and balconies subject to weather and operations.
Assistance Dogs welcome
