Join in on a cycling tour led by Architect Bryan O’Rourke through Phoenix Park. You will have a chance to explore the gate lodges and visit Ashtown Castle and the 15th/17th-century tower house, located beside the Phoenix Park visitor centre.

The tour will look at the varied architectural forms of some of the gate lodges, including the neo-classical example at Chapelizod gate. The tour of Ashtown Castle will include the interior and explain the background of how this tower house was discovered during demolition works of a later building on the site.

The tour will then move towards the historic village of Chapelizod, where you will spend time observing the many architectural landmarks. Bryan 0’Rourke will give a personal overview of the many delights of the village alongside Willy Cumming, who was involved in the restoration of Ashtown Castle. Please note this is a cycling tour and attendees have to bring their own bike. This tour is recommended only for people with experience cycling in the city centre and on public roads and is not suitable for under 18’s.
