Come inside and admire what is regarded as the most attractive interior of all the Carnegie libraries in the county, the Dún Laoghaire Carnegie library building, and enjoy a guided tour of the newly restored spaces now occupied by the Institute of Art and Design and Technology.
The tour will begin in the main space with its restored panelling and parquet floor, and will proceed to the smaller spaces off the octagonal vestibule with its restored lantern, including the former Ladies reading room and the former Men’s Lavatory.
As well as focusing on the architectural features of the building the tour will include some background information on it patron, Andrew Carnegie, and on the evolution of libraries in Dun Laoghaire.
