Meeting at the main entrance to the building the tour will outline the general history of the building and outline the nature of the works completed to provide a new arts space in Swords.

Swords Carnegie Free Library underwent conservation and refurbishment in 2023 for use as a flexible Arts space within the proposed Swords Cultural Quarter under development by Fingal County Council. The original two storey brick fronted building dating from 1908 and designed by Anthony Scott has been adapted and brought back into use with the addition of small contemporary extension providing a new accessible entrance and lift. Features of the building’s original construction have been protected within the refurbishment. Funding for this project was assisted by a grant from the European Regional Development Fund.
