The Education Team at Dublin Castle is delighted to offer architecturally themed events as part of Open House Dublin 2025.

During this FAMILY-FRIENDLY workshop our participants will explore some of the architectural structures at Dublin Castle. This time, we’ll be taking our inspiration from the 5 Orders of Architecture as they relate to the rooms of the State Apartments!

Together we’ll learn about the Georgian Palace that was built on the site in the early 18th century and the characteristics of Georgian Architecture. In light of our Science theme for the year, we’ll also explore compression strength in the context of our classical columns!

Participants will use materials from the Education Room to create their own 3D CLASSICAL COLUMNS! This is an opportunity to LEARN, DISCUSS and CREATE using the rich art collection of the State Apartments at Dublin Castle.

This building is owned by the State through the Office of Public Works (OPW).

Meeting Point: The workshop is hosted in the Education Room in Dublin Castle, which is located on the ground floor, just inside the front door.
