This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the St. Laurence’s Park library and residential development in Stillorgan, a landmark project that brings together civic architecture, affordable housing and high-quality public realm in a single integrated scheme.

At the heart of the development is the new Stillorgan Library, a contemporary civic building designed to serve as a cultural and community hub for the area. Alongside the library, the project delivers affordable housing and carefully designed public spaces that support everyday social interaction, accessibility and community wellbeing.

The tour will examine how the development responds to the evolving needs of a growing suburban population while creating a strong sense of place. Visitors will gain insight into the design process, the challenges of delivering civic and residential uses on a shared site, and the role architecture can play in fostering vibrant, inclusive communities.

The project demonstrates how local authorities can deliver sustainable, people-centred development by combining housing, community facilities and public space within a single cohesive vision. Particular attention will be given to the relationship between the library, housing and landscape design, and how these elements work together to create an active and welcoming environment throughout the day.

Led by members of the project team, the tour will provide an opportunity to learn about the architectural, social and environmental ambitions of the scheme and to explore how design can contribute to stronger, more connected neighbourhoods.
