Tour Information +
This tour is a celebration of how culture, commerce and community thrive together.
The tour will begin at Mary Lavin Place, a beautiful public space with a striking interactive fountain, honouring one of Ireland’s greatest female writers who lived in the neighbourhood.
From here, we will undertake a lap of the one-acre park, which IPUT Real Estate recently restored, while preserving the park’s layout and mature tree canopy. UK based landscape architect, Robert Townshend, and his team, in collaboration with Henry J Lyons Dublin architects, designed the park to include lush planting of native species, paths, children’s playground and comfortable seating for the public to enjoy. The work was undertaken by Irish owned Maylim landscapers who also look after the maintenance of the park and surrounding public realm. Part of the works included the restoration of the 19th century fountain and installing a contemporary sculpture ‘Dipping the Other Wing’ by Irish artist Eilis O’Connell.
On exiting the park, we will enjoy how the buildings interact with the surrounding public realm, standing under James Earley’s ‘Signs of Life’ which is back-lit float glass panels fused with enamel pigment stained glass. IPUT commissioned James to create this work for the walk way linking Wilton Park and Lad Lane.
The tour will then take us up to the 7th floor roof gardens to enjoy 360 panoramic views across Dublin city. Up here, you will see the bleachers, amphitheatre and lush planting, which create the feeling of a park oasis from the 7 floors up.
The tour will conclude back at Mary Lavin Place.
