St Stephen’s Church of Ireland sits in the middle of Mount Street Crescent, at the end of Mount Street Upper, and very near the Grand Canal. St Stephen’s is affectionately named “The Pepper Canister” because of its distinctive domed cupola at the top of the tower.

The church was consecrated in December 1824 to cater for the rapid expansion of Dublin’s Georgian suburbs and its expanding population. It was built on land donated by the earl of Pembroke from the medieval manor of Merrion, and the church still has a Pembroke pew inside.

The meeting point for the tour is the front entrance of the Church. These tours are drop-in and will operate on a first come basis. Look out for Open House volunteers who will be there to assist. Please note the tour times for each day.
