Tour Information +
Join the Grangegorman Development Agency for special one-off tours of the historic Clock Tower Building in Grangegorman.
The building began as The Richmond Penitentiary, officially opening in 1820. Since then, it’s been use as a cholera hospital, a transportation depot, again as a hospital for typhoid and beriberi outbreaks and finally, subsumed into primarily administration use for St Brendan’s Hospital before falling into disuse prior to Grangegorman’s redevelopment.
The Clock Tower today forms part of TU Dublin, housing the Office of the President and other key functions. The building has yet to undergo full restoration as part of the Grangegorman Masterplan. Visitors will experience parts of the building that are not open to the public and it will not be suitable for everyone.
Tours will last approximately 45 minutes and include interior and exterior spaces.
Meeting point: In front of the Clock Tower
Pre-Book Only
