Four Courts

Take a tour of the historical Four Courts, one of Dublin’s great landmarks and the home of law for over 220 years. This building is is owned by the State through the Office of Public Works (OPW). Designed by James Gandon in the late 18th century, is one of Dublin’s most iconic landmarks and the centre of Ireland’s legal system. Its neoclassical design, crowned by a striking central dome, reflects the ambitions of Georgian Dublin. As part of Open House Dublin, visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore this historic building and gain insight into its architecture, history, and continuing role in public life. The dome of the Four Courts features a striking mural painted in the 1990s by artist Louis le Brocquy, depicting an abstracted representation of the River Liffey flowing through the heart of Dublin.
This building is owned by the State through the Office of Public Works (OPW).
Tours commence just past the security hut at the public entrance on Inns Quay.
