A grey historic building with large arch windows and central grey door, a clock tower with green spire in the centre of the roof, overlooking a cobbled courtyard with a few picnic-style seat tables and some people walking and sitting. The sky is brooding, cloudy and grey. A grey historic building with large arch windows and central grey door, a clock tower with green spire in the centre of the roof, overlooking a formal garden with neatly cut and sculpted hedges and trees. Two children are on the path in the distance. There is a high contrast geometric black and white artwork visible on the top garden terrace. The sky is cloudy. .

Join Bryan Hogan from IMMA’s visitor engagement team, in this studio-based, drawing-centred workshop. Discover the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) through the lens of the ‘Ordinary Extraordinary’. Explore the architecture, art, and nature on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the home of IMMA. Create drawings of architecture, focusing on the ordinary to reveal the extraordinary. As our world changes around us, our architecture adapts and changes to accommodate new priorities and functions. This was the case for the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, originally built as a retirement home for soldiers but now housing IMMA, our national museum for Modern and Contemporary Art.

The workshop is free, and materials included, but it must be booked in advance.
