Fern Cottage is a late 19C “workman’s cottage” that is located in Shankill, Co. Dublin. The site extends to 55m in length and is orientated broadside South. The work carried out on the cottage was restorative whilst the additional 150sqm floor area extends into the site to accommodate a family home. The building comprises of the original cottage, a single story extension behind the cottage that opens onto two courtyards. A two story element is sited behind the courtyards that contains an open plan family space and an additional bedroom at first floor level.
