Take a tour led by an archaeologist detailing the rich history of St Mary’s Church and gravestones. You will have the chance to learn about the prominent people buried on the site. St. Mary’s Church stands on the site of a 12th century church of the same dedication.
The present church was built in 1817, but the tower, two stories in height with a spiral staircase and 45 narrow steps, is of much earlier origin. St. Mary’s Church cemetery is thought to have been established during the 15th century. Among those whose remains rest here are some of the landowning families of Crumlin, including the Deane and Shaw families.
You do not need to pre-book this tour.
