A re-imagining of a standard spec-built 1980’s estate house. The internal layout has been re-worked and re-imagined as two primary spaces approached and separated by two timber-lined vestibules. The first of these replaces the previously constructed porch, marking the level-change from outside to in and housing a coat-press and meter cabinet. The second marks another level-change within the house – between the sitting room to the front and the kitchen dining area to the rear and houses a utility room and pantry. The timber-clad motif extends and adapts to form a floor-to-ceiling stair and landing balustrade spanning almost two storeys, concealing a small storage area, laundry-chute and under-stair WC.
People like you make Open House Dublin possible!
Open House Dublin is presented by the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF): a non-profit arts organisation dedicated to the promotion of architecture as culture. Open House Dublin is just one part of a dynamic programme of activity through which we encourage people to engage with their built environment, to encourage new ways of thinking about architecture.
But we can’t do this alone – our supporters make a huge difference to our programme and what we are able to deliver to our audiences of all ages. Our Friends are at the heart of what we do, and by joining the IAF Family as a Friend you’ll ensure that we can continue to grow and create more innovative and exciting events that inspire people to understand and shape their world.
