Marlay House and Courtyard are protected structures located in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s largest park. The Courtyard is part of the estate and has been restored and conserved. The history of the estate is reflected in the Courtyard buildings. These were typical farm yard two storey single “A” slated pitch containing staff accommodation upstairs, stables and farm machinery. Other uses included as the Dower House during the 18th and early 19th century ‘La Touche’ period of ownership. It was Eve Hones stained glass studio during the early 20th century. The restoration in 2018 of the courtyard into 24 units over two floors gives high public access and visibility to the finest craftspeople and provides a special place to work and sell their beautifully designed and crafted products. The Courtyard has a quality of scale and containment which makes it a very pleasant place to visit.
