This tour visits ‘lost’ buildings in Dublin’s north city centre from Hector Grey’s recently demolished bargain shop on Liffey Street to the Hammam Family Hotel and Turkish baths on Upper O’Connell Street. The tour will also take in the location of one of the city’s first Chinese restaurants and the Lawrence photographic studio and Great Bazaar which was destroyed in the 1916 Rising. Many of these buildings feature in Lost Ireland (Pavilion) and paint a picture of a multi-layered city and society.
