Tour Information +
The Irish Traditional Music Archive is a national public archive and resource centre, home to the largest and most comprehensive collection of materials related to Irish traditional music, song and dance. ITMA has its home in a fine 18th-century terraced building, more than 230 years old, which is situated in a historic quarter of Georgian Dublin.
The building is a four storey townhouse of three bays over a basement and area, with a three storey return and a mews stable house, and external vaulted cellars. It is owned by the State through the Office of Public Works (OPW). ITMA is restoring the OPW’s two-bedroom mews at the rear of the Archive on Merrion Square to establish an artist/archivist-in-residence site.
Visitors will learn about the historical Georgian architectural features of the building as well as learning about the work done by ITMA and hearing live traditional music performances.
