To celebrate Open House 2024, join photographic historian Orla Fitzpatrick and local artist Angela Monks McDonagh who will present a walking tour and talk called “Houses of the Barracks”. This talk will focus on the housing of soldiers in family houses around the Barracks, and in particular the impact of the First World War on one local family who lived on Arbour Hill. This house, where Angela now lives, is now used for the live art event “Room” which will also be discussed.
This walking tour and talk talk will be of interest to anyone researching their own home and local history. The tour will meet at reception at Collins Barracks, before walking up to Arbour Hill to begin. The tour will then move back to Collins Barracks for a walk around the grounds.
