Tour Information +
At PROBONO, we are working to create a Green Building Neighbourhood in the Decarbonising Area of Dun Laoghaire, thanks to a collaboration between DLR County Council, University College Dublin and the European Union and a myriad of technical partners. As part of this challenge, we have sought to analyse some of the complexities around retrofitting a heritage building. To prove that these are indeed surmountable, we took it upon ourselves to retrofit the windows in Harbour Master’s Lodge. During the tour, starting outside the Lodge in the Sqauare, you will be guided through the new wing of the building, into it’s historic heart. There, you will be shown the work that took place, with sneak peaks into the architectural sketches and drawings. PROBONO staff will be on-hand, to break-down the process and the challenges in retrofitting a heritage building, and walk you through the results. The goal of this tour is to make the prospect of retrofitting a home or building seem less daunting, no matter it’s heritage status.
