Deansgrange Library was originally opened in 1982 and was extensively renovated in 2012/13, with further refurbishments undertaken this year to upgrade roof, windows and accessible egress route to carpark added. Sensory grant funding has enabled the installation of a Sensory wall, sensory trolley, sensory toys, sensory stock, which all complement the Tovertafel for use as a sensory area. A dividing wall allows the meeting room to be divided into both a sensory and a general meeting room space for public use, which will be bookable in My Open Library periods. Currently restrictions don’t allow the My Open Library service to resume, however we look forward to their return in the future. An adult change table, and hoist, for accessibility, has been installed in one of the public toilets, and both toilets have been enabled for My Open Library access. Other new exciting creative technologies have also been purchased for the Library, including a HP Sprout, 3d printer, and a Promethean screen, to allow creative tech workshops when restrictions allow.
