‘Cityful Passing away, other cityful coming’ – James Joyce
Taking it’s prompt from Leopold Bloom’s musings on urban life as he stands on O’Connell Bridge, this tour will focus on Dublin’s comings and goings – on the ways in which the city has been reinvented and transformed over time. In some cases, this has entailed the destruction and remaking of whole areas. In other cases, buildings and spaces have been reinvented in terms of their use and identity, often over very extended lifespans. As this tour hopes to show, the city’s richness derives from the fact that few -if any- parts of it have known only one version of themselves.
This tour will be on board of Big Bus Dublin. There is no better way to take in the stunning sights and buzzing atmosphere of Dublin than from on-board of Big Bus open-top, double-decker buses.
